AMERICAN INNOVATION FOR OVER 100 YEARS

1910

L. H. Hamilton and Chester Beach

Chester Beach formed Hamilton Beach Manufacturing Company in Racine, Wisconsin USA after inventing the “universal” motor that could operate on both alternating and direct current, making its applications endless.

 


1911

Universal motor use expanded over the next decade to food mixers, grinders, juice extractors, fans, vacuums, sewing machines and hair dryers.

 


1929

1930

Put a silent bi-metal heat sensor in a toaster instead of the standard clock control. The sensor adjusted for toast crispness and activated a current shut-off switch upon cycle completion.

 


1940

After selling manual coffeemakers for 30 years, the company started to manufacture electric coffeemakers.

 


1959

Professional bar mixer.

 


1966

Contracted the Kennedy Administration's White House chef to be its primary culinary consultant.

 


1978

Patented a blender with microprocessor controls.

 


1985

TV advertising featured famous American athletes Joe Namath and Doug Flutie as well as Academy Award winner Mickey Rooney.

 


1990

Moved its headquarters to Richmond, Virginia and became the largest manufacturer of small appliances in the USA.

 


1993

Toaster factory in Mount Airy, North Carolina declared “the toaster capital of the world” after the billionth slice of bread was toasted at the plant.

 


2003

Launched the revolutionary BrewStation® dispensing coffeemaker, which sold more than 10 million units in ten years.

 


2017
